This one has a special place in my heart!

Through Ventura County Leadership Academy and the wonderful Pattie Braga, I had the opportunity to meet with Eric Knight, Executive Director at the Humane Society of Ventura County last week. Really appreciate the time that Eric took to share with me his journey to executive leadership in nonprofit and highlight the great work of his organization. What you may not realize is that the Humane Society of Ventura County does not receive any state or federal grants or funding, nor do they receive any national funding. This makes individual donorship critical to the success of their diverse and broad mission - spaying/neutering feral cats, adoption services, and law enforcement investigations into animal cruelty to name a few.

The featured photo I posted of the dog in a Slimer costume is my dog, Bug. She is a Humane Society success story. The Humane Society tended to her broken bones and trauma and made her an adoptable dog. Who is now a very loved member of our family.
