THANK YOU!

Cohort 30 of the Ventura County Leadership Academy was honored to produce and host Trivia Night at the Museum where we welcomed over 150 members of the community to gather for a fun night of trivia while supporting our neighbors impacted by the Mountain Fire.
While we are finalizing the total funds raised, we invite you to check out our gallery of event photos!

BENEFITING MOUNTAIN FIRE DISASTER RELIEF

From our earliest discussions, VCLA Cohort “Season 30” wanted to learn about and do something to address our region’s housing scarcity and homelessness through a community awareness fundraiser. While we learned much about all that is being done to address housing affordability in our county, we felt pulled towards the most immediate need—supporting those impacted by the Mountain Fire through the Ventura County Wildfire Relief & Recovery fund administered by the Ventura County Community Foundation.

Many of us know those who have lost their homes and businesses in this fire which makes them homeless and exacerbates an already monumental housing problem in our community.

The Mountain Fire feels a bit unfair to the families and individuals impacted. While all the California fires have been devastating, the Mountain Fire did not reach the level of a Federal Disaster. This means affected households that may have lost just as much or more personally or as a family, aren’t eligible for the same aid and are unlikely to qualify for FEMA and other financial assistance to help bridge the gap between insurance, lack of insurance and their actual losses.

Funds raised for Mountain Fire Disaster Relief are going towards temporary housing, medical equipment replacement, emergency childcare, as well as financial assistance for displaced families and farmworkers left without work. Funds are also supporting evacuation costs for more than 450 animals and veterinary bills for injured pets of families who lost their homes in the Mountain Fire.

With your help, we hope to raise awareness and much needed funds for those impacted by the Mountain Fire so together we can support our neighbors here in Ventura County. Please join us by purchasing your ticket today and we invite you to become a sponsor in support of our community.
